WHO IS JAE COCA?

Hey, I’m Jae Coca (yes, that’s my real name 😏).

I’m a Bay Area native, born and raised in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District. Music has been my escape since I was a kid 🧒🏻 the one thing that made sense when the world didn’t. It kept me company when I was alone, grounded me when I was angry, and amplified every joy. It healed me then, and it still heals me now. ❤️‍🩹

So much so that I remember constantly searching for DJs to collaborate with, trying to create and promote cool events that brought people together, but it never quite clicked. Still, I knew deep down that music and community were where I belonged.

Before the pandemic, I was itching to get into the club scene, not just for the music, but for the people. I started out helping promote events and hosting for a crew of DJs, and somewhere along the way I realized I didn’t just want to hype the vibe, I wanted to create it.

DJ’s that influenced me when I was younger were legends like DJ AM (rest in peace), Steve Aoki, Afrojack, and DJ Spider, just to name a few. They each had this insane ability to blend energy, emotion, and surprise! That’s something I carry into every set I play.

Fast forward a few years (and one tech layoff later), I said, “F*ck it.” This was my chance to finally go all in. I learned, I mixed, I experimented, and I haven’t stopped since.

Now, I’m grateful to do what I love 💕 bringing people together through sound. Whether it’s a fitness event, a rooftop day party, or a community celebration, I love watching people move, smile, and lose track of time. That’s the magic of music; it connects strangers, lifts moods, and reminds us that we’re all just human.

I consider myself an open-format DJ 👍🏻 which to me means freedom 🙌🏼 I play what feels good. My sets flow through reggaetón, Latin house, melodic techno, progressive house, R&B, EDM, baile funk, afrobeats, dancehall, and Bay Area hyphy classics, with a sprinkle of nostalgic throwbacks for good measure. I love blending every genre because it’s possible, it’s beautiful, and I love that shit!

I’m a big believer that music can heal, unite, and elevate. Every time I play, I bring that same energy.
